PCC, LAUSD, and UMMLAD Signed MOU with NSBN for the Planning of an East Los Angeles Joint Development Project

Plaza Community Center (PCC), Los Angeles Unified School District, and United Methodist Ministries-Los Angeles Districted (UMMLAD) signed Memorandum of Understanding with NSBN for the Planning of an East Los Angeles Joint Development Project.

December 20, 2004: Plaza Community Center (PCC), Los Angeles Unified School District, and United Methodist Ministries-Los Angeles Districted (UMMLAD) signed today a Memorandum of Understanding with NSBN for an East Los Angeles Development project to integrate early education programs within the East Los Angeles community impacted by the development of new high school at First and Mission Streets. This project has the support of LAUSD School Board Member Jose Huizar, Los Angeles City Council Member Antonio Villaragosa, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina

NSBN, in the MOU, commits to retaining a professional design team to assist the parties in collaboratively assessing, with community input, the feasibility of integrating early education component into development activities along First and Mission Streets in East Los Angeles. Other partners include, the Boyle Heights Development Cabinet, Metropolitan Transportation Agency, Community Redevelopment Agency, Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, and McCormack Baron Salazar. The project will build upon the housing, transit, mixed-use, and new school construction developments within the community.

The community will benefit from a collaborative planning process which will address multiple needs through the integrated development among various entities.
