CASE STUDIES: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

The Cahuenga Project

In May 1998, the Board of Education of the Los Angeles Unified School District adopted a Facilities Master Plan to address the expected growth of 79,249 additional students by 2008. The Facilities Master Plan identified a need for 51 new schools to relieve existing or projected overcrowding in specific attendance areas. One of the most overcrowded attendance areas in the District is that of Cahuenga Elementary School, where an additional elementary school is needed to address the increasing number of students.
